How it works here
Whitening is the most-asked-about and most-oversold service in dentistry, so let's be straight about it: professional whitening lightens natural enamel several shades, it works best on yellow-ish staining (coffee, tea, wine, time), and it does not change the color of crowns, veneers, or fillings. In your consult we'll tell you exactly what your teeth will and won't do before you spend a dollar. If whitening won't get you what you want, we'll say so.
The in-office treatment ($299) is the fast lane: about 90 minutes in the chair with a professional-strength gel we control carefully, your gums protected the whole time. Most patients leave 3 to 6 shades brighter — great before a wedding or anything with a photographer. We schedule these with buffer time, so you're never rushed out mid-shade.
Take-home trays ($199) are the slow-and-steady option, and honestly, they're what half our staff uses. We scan your teeth and make custom-fitted trays — not the floppy boil-and-bite kind — and you wear them with gel for a week or two of evenings. Bonus: you keep the trays, so touch-ups down the road only cost you a syringe of gel.

Whitening — what people actually ask
Will whitening make my teeth sensitive?
It can, temporarily — usually a day or two of 'zing' with cold drinks. We manage it with desensitizing gel before and after, and by controlling gel strength and timing rather than blasting for maximum shade. If you're already sensitivity-prone, take-home trays at a gentler concentration are usually your better road.
How long do results last?
Typically one to three years, depending on your coffee, tea, wine, and smoking situation — we don't judge, we just calibrate. Take-home tray owners can touch up for the cost of a gel syringe whenever things dim.
Why not just buy whitening strips at the store?
Strips are fine for mild cases — genuinely. The differences here: stronger gel, custom trays that cover your actual tooth shape (strips miss the curves and leave streaks), protection for your gums, and a professional making sure the dark tooth isn't dark for a reason that needs treatment, not bleach.
