How it works here

A filling at Juniper starts the same way everything here starts: with numbing. We use a warming, slow-delivery technique for the anesthetic itself, so even the part people fear — the needle — is a non-event for most patients. Then Dr. Castillo removes only the decayed part of the tooth and rebuilds it with composite matched to your enamel. Done well, you shouldn't be able to find it with your tongue a week later.

Crowns are where our CEREC machine earns its keep. The old way: two visits, a goopy impression tray, a plastic temporary that pops off at a barbecue, and a three-week wait. Our way: Dr. Castillo scans your tooth with a small camera, designs the crown on screen, and a mill in the next room carves it from a solid ceramic block while you watch shows on the ceiling TV. You leave with the permanent crown the same day, usually in about two hours.

Every filling and crown comes with a price on paper before we begin, and an honest conversation about alternatives. Sometimes a large filling can save you from a crown; sometimes a crown now saves you a root canal later. We'll show you the scan, explain both roads, and let you pick. It's your tooth and your money — we just work here.

Is a same-day CEREC crown as good as a lab crown?

For most teeth, yes — modern milled ceramic is strong, precise, and matched to your bite before you leave. There are a few cases (certain front teeth where cosmetics are everything, or complex bites) where we'll recommend a lab crown instead, and we'll tell you why. We pick what's right for the tooth, not what's convenient for the schedule.

How do I know if I need a filling or a crown?

Roughly: if there's more healthy tooth than damage, a filling. If the tooth is more filling than tooth, or it's cracked, a crown protects what's left. Dr. Castillo will show you the scan and the X-ray side by side and walk you through it — you'll see what she sees before anyone talks price.

Will my filling appointment hurt?

The honest answer: you'll feel the small pinch of numbing gel doing its job, and after that, pressure but no pain. If anything sharpens past 'pressure,' raise your hand and we stop and re-numb. Nobody white-knuckles it through a visit here.
